Jim Catalano was born in 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio and is the son of Rose(Pinzone) and Michael Catalano. He grew up in the Woodland/Larchmere area and is the proud grandson of Vincent Pinzone who is 100 years old and lives in his own home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Theresa. From kindergarten through eight grade, Jim attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic School located on Van Aken Blvd. His family moved to Bedford Heights in 1965 and he graduated from Bedford High School in 1970. While at Bedford High, Jim was a good college preparatory student and an excellent athlete. In 1974, Jim graduated from Ohio University where he was a Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications. Jim received his Ohio Real Estate License in 1976. In his early years in real estate, Jim was licensed with his Dad, Michael J. Catalano, who was broker/owner of M.J. Catalano Realty. Jim began selling real estate in 1976 while working in sales and marketing for the Cleveland Barons National Hockey League team located at the Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio. While always maintaining his Ohio Real Estate license, Jim entered the corporate business world in 1979 where he obtained over 20 years of successful experience in selling corporate travel management solutions to senior-level management of many major corporations. During these years Jim developed his excellent professional skills in new business development, consultative sales, sales/account management, proposal development & formal presentations and in sales training & development. Jim possesses a positive attitude with outstanding interpersonal and motivational skills. His past positions have been with National Car Rental and Alamo Rent-a-Car. While with The American Express Co. in Cleveland as Corporate Sales Manager from 1984-1994, he successfully sold the Corporate Card System and Travel Management Services to senior-level management of corporations in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Jim received Sales Excellence Award five consecutive years for outstanding sales achievement while at American Express. Jim was also Director of Corporate Sales at Traveline Carlson Wagonlit from 1997 to 1999. In 1999, Jim re-entered the real estate industry full time and started laying the ground work and test marketed his ideas for this very new and innovated concept in the residential real estate industry. In 2001, Jim was Manager of Business Development for The Smythe Cramer Company at their corporate headquarters in Seven Hills, Ohio. While at Smythe Cramer he learned how inflexible the large real estate firms were in fulfilling the intrinsic needs of homeowners and homebuyers. After leaving Smythe Cramer, Jim became Publisher of Broker Agent Magazine in 2002. Broker Agent Magazine is a National Real Estate Magazine published in 20+ major US markets. Broker Agent Magazine is America’s Trade Magazine for the Real Estate Professional. The magazine’s valuable editorial information helped realtors and readers grow professionally while educating them about everything related to the real estate industry. During these years. Jim was test marketing and laying the ground work for launching Great Choice Realty whith was officially opened in the Spring of 2004. Jim is the father of two boys, Austin and Dean. He enjoys jogging, playing and watching most sports and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
